Local Councils

The implementation of the water efficiency measures will ensure that Local Councils using bore water in metropolitan Perth through Western Australian Local Government Association comply with the State-wide daytime sprinkler ban by 1 July 2008. This will include amendment of Local Government Authority and Government Department water allocation licences by 1 July 2008 to include the daytime sprinkler ban condition.

Country Councils using groundwater or surfacewater will be required to comply with the new watering regime by 1 July 2009. All Local councils using scheme water for reticulation must comply with the daytime sprinkler ban as of 1 October 2007.

Local government authorities must develop and submit water efficiency plans to the Department of Water by 1 July 2008 for Perth region councils and by 1 July 2009 for country councils.
